Women Are Not Small Men - Women Need To Support Their Bodies Differently

I wish more women realised just how miraculous our bodies are.

And it’s very different from male bodies.

And I am not just talking about anatomy - it goes beyond that.

It’s about the intricate dance of hormones that sets us apart and it’s time we embrace these differences and use them to our advantage.

I shared this video of me and my partner to demonstrate difference that you can watch here.

Did you know that for far too long, medical research primarily focused on men completely ignoring female physiology and hormones?

Many studies and treatments have been done on male bodies because men's body was treated as the "standard" which, as you can imagine, has left women in the dark.

Things like intermittent fasting, cutting out food groups like carbohydrates, waking up at the same time each day performing same intense workouts in fasted state - all these trendy things have been only tested on male bodies.

When women get on board with those practices - it can actually cause a lot of hormonal imbalances.

Let's dive a little deeper into the differences and why you should know this.

Stress Response:

Did you know that our menstrual cycle and hormones affects the way we respond to stress? Our hormonal fluctuations can make us more sensitive to stress at certain times of the month. When I work with women 1:1 (and if you're interested to work with me you can schedule a chat right here) - I help you understand your own natural rhythm so you feel empowered and educated on how to adapt your self-care strategies with your cycle. This will help you dramatically reduce stress and support your body in the most female-centric way possible. Once you've mastered this process it's like having the tools to navigate stress, harnessing your body's natural wisdom, and finding your calm in the chaos.

Sleep Needs:

Studies show that women generally need more sleep than men. Sleep is not a luxury, it's a necessity for hormonal balance, mood stability, and overall well-being. Women on average need anywhere between 20-60 mins more sleep than men. Women can be extremely sleep deprived if they follow the recommendations that have been created for men.

Intermittent Fasting:

Intermittent fasting has become a buzzword. And what you weren't told is that it affects men and women differently. While men may experience benefits like weight loss, women may encounter hormonal imbalances like cortisol, insulin imbalances and actually gain weight (specifically around the belly area). Women need to nourish their bodies with balanced meals that are rich in nutrients and support hormonal balance.

Exercise Needs:

Men and women respond differently to exercise throughout our cycles. Men thrive with long cardio and high-intensity workouts consistently. But for female body - we need variety. Depending on which menstrual cycle phase you're in - you would benefit from a mix of restorative sessions like yoga and pilates during your period and late luteal phase. During your follicular phase you can engage in more intense workouts like weight lifting, HIIT and cardio and during luteal phase you want to switch to more resistance-based workouts.

Female bodies need to be supported differently than men's because female physiology works on a 28 day cycle when men's hormones fluctuate on a 24 hour cycle.

Our hormones, and our unique needs deserve different kind of care. And it’s important you become the advocate for your health and understand WHAT causes hormone imbalances at its root and HOW to fix it.

I want to help you embrace your uniqueness, not conforming to one-size-fits-all solutions.

The evidence and science back it up, but most importantly, it's about you taking control of your health and well-being. It's about feeling vibrant, resilient, and in tune with your body, every single day of your cycle.
